Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

These Terms govern your use of Pay Button (the "Service"), operated at pay-button.com. By creating an account or accepting payments through the Service, you agree to these Terms and to the Acceptable Use Policy below.

Plain summary. Pay Button helps you collect payments for your own goods and services. We never take custody of your funds — money flows directly to your own connected processor (including Dodo Payments, Paddle, Polar, Lemon Squeezy, PayPal, Stripe, or a compatible custom merchant), and that processor handles card data, identity verification (KYC/AML) and settlement. Our platform fee and optional Pro subscription are billed to you separately through Dodo Payments, our billing provider and Merchant of Record — never deducted from a buyer's payment.

1. The Service

Pay Button lets you create hosted payment pages and embeddable buttons to accept one-off payments and donations. You connect your own payment processor account; funds are paid out to you directly by that processor. We are a software platform, not a bank, money transmitter, or payment processor, and we do not hold, transfer, or have custody of your funds.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You must be legally able to enter into a contract and to sell the goods or services you offer. Disposable or throwaway email addresses are not permitted.

3. Fees and subscriptions

Our platform fee is a percentage of each successful live payment: 5% on the Free plan and 0.9% on the Pro plan. The Pro plan also adds a fixed subscription of $59.99 per month. Current pricing is shown on our pricing page and in your dashboard.

These platform fees and the Pro subscription are billed to you separately through our billing provider, Dodo Payments, on a usage-based basis (after the fact) — together with your subscription. They are not an application fee and are never deducted from a buyer's payment; the money your buyers pay flows directly to your own connected processor. The separate costs of processing those payments are billed to you by that processor.

A valid billing method (a card on file with Dodo Payments) is required to accept live payments. You can create buttons, connect a processor, and run test or preview payments for free, without a card; live acceptance switches on once a billing method is added. New accounts have lower intermediate thresholds at which accrued platform fees are collected. Unpaid platform fees may pause live acceptance on your buttons until the balance is settled. Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled.

4. Acceptable Use Policy

You may use Pay Button only to collect payments for your own lawful goods and services, sold by you. The Service is closely modelled on the Stripe Prohibited Businesses list, and the following uses are not allowed.

Sell only your own goods and services

You may not act as a payment aggregator, marketplace operator, or money-transmission service for third parties. You may not collect, process, forward, or pool funds on behalf of anyone else, and you may not use the Service to crowdfund or resell payments you do not control.

Prohibited businesses and categories

The following categories are prohibited (this list is illustrative, not exhaustive):

No fraud or abuse

You may not use the Service for card testing, structuring, self-funding, chargeback abuse, or any attempt to disguise the nature of a transaction. You may not submit false information to the Service or to your payment processor.

5. Compliance, KYC and AML

Identity verification and anti-money-laundering checks are performed by your connected payment processor as part of its onboarding. You agree to complete that onboarding and to provide any information your processor or applicable law requires. You are responsible for the legality of your business and for all applicable taxes, licenses, and regulations in your jurisdiction.

6. Suspension and freezing of accounts

We may freeze or suspend your account. If we detect suspected fraud, prohibited use, excessive disputes, or a violation of these Terms, we may freeze your account, disable your payment pages, decline new payments, and withhold platform services — with or without prior notice, at our discretion.

A freeze blocks new payments through your buttons; rewards and access already earned by buyers on completed payments are honored, because buyers are not at fault. To appeal a suspension, contact support@pay-button.com. We may report suspected criminal activity to the relevant authorities and to your payment processor.

7. Refunds and disputes

You are responsible for honoring your own refund policy and for handling disputes and chargebacks raised through your payment processor. Excessive disputes may trigger a freeze. We do not adjudicate disputes between you and your buyers.

8. Intellectual property

Pay Button and its branding belong to us. You keep ownership of your own content. You grant us a limited license to display your button content (title, description, label, color, messages) on hosted pages and embeds you create.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim. This document is not legal advice; consult a lawyer for your jurisdiction.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account for any violation of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (fees owed, disclaimers, limitations) survive.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
